CollectA currently has 4 Baryonyx figures on the market. Two of them look very similar - this is the smaller of the two similar figures - the larger figure is #88856 (the 88856 is retiring though). The two together make a nice set as their paint and form are similar.
This figure does not have a movable jaw and is affixed to the base. Model is thinner and sleeker than many of the other available models. Orange base paint with brown speckles is well applied. Little ridge of spines on the back transitions into a double row on the tail. Overall a nice looking figure.
Baryonyx is a genus of theropod dinosaur which lived in the Barremian stage of the Early Cretaceous period, about 130-125 million years ago. Baryonyx means "heavy claw" and refers to the animals very large claw on the first finger. A fully grown baryonyx, was estimated to have been between 25 and 33 feet long and to have weighed between 1.2 and 1.7 tons.
